PLDT Inc.: Smart Communications Technolab, a pioneering open innovation center established with the aim of researching, designing, and developing new telecommunications technologies in cooperation with the academic world, has welcomed an influx of students. In partnership with various educational institutions, over 200 students in the Philippines were granted access to explore the new innovations for the telecommunications industry within the first quarter of the year.

The Bulacan State University Meneses Campus students, the University of San Agustin in Iloilo, and De La Salle University in Manila were part of the fortunate school dignitaries. Students were granted the distinct advantage of being able to witness sophisticated pieces of equipment and the latest technological devices that helped them appreciate the intricacies of the field.

In her gratitude towards the experience, a fourth-year student at BulSU, Jaina Mae Jumaquio, expressed her delight. As a participant, she stated, “It was exciting to see devices that we only see fused in cell towers and learn the many other ways they can be utilized.” For students, this type of advanced exposure is believed to greatly improve their transition to actual working environments.

It serves as the Technolab Innovation Center, the ORAN, and Smart Automation OPC—Innovations Towards the Future Shaping Network Projects.

  • ORAN: Open Radio Access Network. (Radio Mobile –开放无线接取网)
  • XR: Extended reality. Information technology is only seen through a single device like a smartphone or video games.
  • FWA: Fixed Wireless Access. A telecommunications system that derives from advanced wireless technologies like mobile cellular and satellite systems.
  • Tools for home automation. Cloud computing network services and automation frameworks are capable of completing tasks.
  • New automation gadgets.
  • A cloud-based network. Technological devices that are able to connect with one another through the internet.

What’s next? Defining the Future: The Next Steps.

Or the classroom separates smart tech too much, and why at an academic level are programmable A/B tests alongside smart wearables towards life-controlled gadgets patents? “To make a difference or a lasting change is a good objective.”

The aim is to organize and define the future, even constructing devices that control temperature and lighting, enable surveillance, and permit appliance usage, such as machines using a built-in schedule to execute credits.
