Rainbow Turns Points Into RNBW Token
Ethereum wallet provider Rainbow announced that its Rainbow Points program will officially convert into the RNBW token later this year. The launch is set for Q4 2025, ending months of speculation about when the long-awaited airdrop would arrive.
Rainbow emphasized that points collectors will finally see their rewards translated into real tokens. This marks one of the most anticipated wallet-driven token launches since early DeFi days. The move positions Rainbow as a stronger competitor in the Ethereum wallet ecosystem.
New Features Ahead of Token Launch
Alongside the token announcement, Rainbow revealed several app upgrades. These include real-time token price updates, advanced charting tools, and a new daily token game. The wallet also confirmed plans to integrate Hyperliquid for in-wallet perpetual trading.
According to the team, these improvements are designed to ensure the platform is ready for a surge in users. By aligning feature growth with token distribution, Rainbow aims to sustain momentum long after launch.
A “Vampire Attack” on MetaMask Users
Rainbow first launched its points program in December 2023. The campaign rewarded users for on-chain activity, wallet holdings, and even more for switching from MetaMask. This strategy, known as a “vampire attack,” aimed to attract MetaMask users by offering better incentives.
Many crypto analysts predicted this would ultimately lead to an airdrop. With the RNBW announcement, Rainbow has confirmed those expectations while reigniting wallet competition.
Tokenomics Still Under Wraps
While Rainbow confirmed the token launch, its full tokenomics remain unreleased. The firm revealed that 20% of the RNBW supply will circulate at launch. Additionally, it offered 4% of the total supply in a bid to acquire Clanker, a token-launching protocol.
These hints suggest a structured rollout balancing distribution with ecosystem expansion. However, investors remain eager for more details about vesting, staking, and governance roles.

Competition Brewing With MetaMask
Rainbow’s move comes just as MetaMask hints at its own token launch. Consensys CEO Joe Lubin said last week that MetaMask’s token is “on the way” and could arrive sooner than expected. Prediction markets on Myriad put the odds of launch before November 1 at only 21%.
If both wallets launch tokens in close succession, Ethereum users may see one of the biggest wallet airdrop battles yet. This rivalry could reshape how users choose between Ethereum wallets.
Why This Matters for Ethereum Users
Wallet tokens have historically driven major waves of adoption and speculation. By rewarding early activity, projects like Rainbow create strong community loyalty and incentivize continued engagement.
With Rainbow offering both innovative features and financial incentives, Ethereum users may view it as a viable MetaMask alternative. Moreover, the timing of the launch could coincide with broader Ethereum growth in late 2025. These dynamics could give RNBW strong momentum at launch.
Looking Toward the RNBW Launch
The exact airdrop date has not been announced, but Rainbow confirmed the token generation event (TGE) will occur before year-end. Around 20% of supply will be tradable immediately, ensuring liquidity from day one. Analysts expect the launch to attract significant attention, given the nearly two-year wait.
For Ethereum users who accumulated points, the RNBW token represents both a reward and a fresh entry into the wallet-token race. Rainbow’s next chapter begins as Ethereum wallets turn from tools into full-fledged token ecosystems.
